All invited to LO Reads finale at LOACC

Lake Oswego Review - 2/22/2018

The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center is hosting the final Lake Oswego Reads event Feb. 28. It is a performance by Stand Up for Mental Health.

------------

The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center is honored to be the location of the final event for the popular Lake Oswego Reads program.

An underlying theme woven into the LO Reads selection, "Good Morning, Midnight" by Lily Brooks-Dalton, is mental health. Many Americans struggle with mental health issues; depression, anxiety and bipolar or neurodevelopmental disorders are commonly suffered, even as occasional bouts.

The LOACC and Stand Up for Mental Health are teaming up to bring a Stand Up for Mental Healthy comedy show, taking place at the center from 6:30 to 8 p.m.Feb. 28. The show begins at 7 p.m. and wine and cheese will be served.

Stand Up for Mental Health is a comedy troupe comprised of folks who live with a mental illness. The troupe's laugh-out-loud funny shows feature eight comics whose lives have been transformed by finding humor in their dark days, writing jokes about them and performing live on stage.

Stand Up for Mental Health has performed at Portland Center Stage and sold out the 185 seat Helium Comedy Club. Stand Up for Mental Health shows are recognized as smart, intelligent, creative and possibly the funniest comedy show in Portland.

Led by author and comedian Dave Mowry, Stand Up for Mental Health shatters the stigma against mental illness one joke at a time. Once you have seen this laugh out loud funny comedy show, you will never see mental illness in the same light again.

All are welcome to attend the LO Reads finale and enjoy the free show.
